VCT All Human Cell Therapy Technology

The second generation Apligraf^® will be the result of the VCT all human cell therapy technology.  This "new" Apligraf^® will be biologically equivalent to its predecessor in that it will have the same functions. The only difference is that the second generation product will be fabricated with all human components. This is accomplished by using the de novo extracellular matrix secreted by human dermal fibroblasts to fabricate the dermal portion of the construct, which is then epidermalized to create the all human bi-layered cell therapy.

This product is more physiologically, biologically and chemically similar to human skin because of the all-human components and the developed structure of the dermal matrix.

VCT technology , which can be applied in the form of a bi-layered (dermal/epidermal) product, would potentially increase the rate and quality of integration into the wound  bed due to the natural structure and composition.
